Tabletop Design Contest: Wedding Party Bridal Show

We were thrilled to once again be invited by Bridal Insider to participate in the Tabletop Design Contest at the Wedding Party Bridal Show recently held at the Hard Rock Hotel in Downtown San Diego. We were lucky enough to have participated back in the October show. (See that table design here)

Tabletop Design Contest

We recently had the pleasure of participating in a tabletop design contest sponsored by Bridal Insider at the Wedding Party Bridal Show held on October 31st at the Hyatt Mission Bay. It is always fun having full creative control over a design and getting to go "Wild" with it. For this particular design we used an existing inspiration board that had been created as a concept for another event but the client went with another design. Since this one was so sassy and fun we decided to bring it to life.

With the current style trending toward the return of animal print we decide to walk on the "Wild" side. Our main element was the Zebra print linen.

Sparkle, glitz, and glam!!! Yup, that's what we were going for!

When we asked one of our favorite florist, Tessilk Flowers, to create something for us she jumped on board and knew exactly what would make a statement without the table being overdone. The soft elegant arrangement of orchids and hydrangea was of course adorned with a little bit of sparkle.

We added a bright colored orchid to the faux cocktail as a fun accent.

In lieu of votives or tealight candles we added water and floating candles to the blue crackle candle holder. Loved these little gems and the color went perfectly with the napkins.

Accented the table number with a crystal edged frame and added the signature zebra print as a border.

Once again, we custom made the menu cards to reflect the color scheme and created the zebra band and  accented it with an adorable black bow and crystal.

We couldn't be more pleased with the final product!

San Diego Style Weddings

For the second year in a row Oh So Chic participated in a tablescape photo shoot for San Diego Style Weddings Magazine. You may remember our previous post. We were paired up with Peggi Walker of Metro Floral who did the amazing florals for this design. Our shoot took place at the La Costa Resort and the photos were taken by Garrett of Garrett Photography. Viva Las Vegas!

I recently took a trip to Las Vegas for a wedding conference for wedding professionals. I was so excited to find out that it would be held in one of my favorite cities. Las Vegas has the most beautiful hotels and everything is usually under one roof. I went with my fellow planner friends and we stayed at the gorgeous Venetian hotel. I love to see the decor in the different hotels. Here are some photos that I took when we wandered over to the Wynn.

"Parasol Down"- This is great inspiration for a wedding or party theme. The rich colors would make a bold statement.

This would be a gorgeous setting for an evening garden wedding. White lights are always an affordable decor item. You can also have your florist create pomander balls to hang from trees if you are using an outdoor venue.

There was a restaurant/bakery inside the Wynn called Sugar & Ice that had their cakes displayed along the wall at one of the entrances to the hotel where the shop was located. I love how the display cases were framed like works of art.

Wedding Graffiti

Wedding Graffiti is a wonderful way to personalize your day! From placing it on your transportation to the dance floor this is a great way to add a personal touch. Looking for a ring pillow? I constantly get brides asking me about them and where to get them. Menu Card Ideas

Menu cards are a great way to add another personal touch to your wedding as well as inform your guests of what great cuisine that is to come. From round to fan shape, one per person or one per table, the sky is the limit with menu cards. If you are doing specific seating per table you can also incorporate guests names on them so that they know what seat they are in. This can make a great keepsake as well. So have fun and be creative. Remember this day is all about you and your husband or wife to be.

Please be seated!

Place cards aren't what they use to be. They aren't just white tent cards folded with your guests name on the front and their table number on the inside. Couples are becoming more into personalizing their wedding. Whether it's their favorite treat, hobby, or occupation couples are finding way to create customized place cards. These are a few unique ideas to get your creative juices flowing on ways to incorporate something fun into your place cards.

On a side note, for those of you who aren't a fan of seating arrangements, this is for you. Assigned seating doesn't automatically make an event a formal one. The majority of the time your guests are looking for a little direction and like to be told what to do, where to sit, etc. They don't like wandering around trying to find a seat and wondering if it's alright with the people already seated if they join them. So throw the myth out the window. It will not change the formality of your event and what you envision. Guests will still mingle and have a great time. Let's be honest if guests are staying seated the whole event they probably aren't having a good time.
