Happy Memorial Day!

In honor of Memorial Day, we thought we may suggest ideas for adding military touches to your wedding.  With these meaningful  details, your wedding doesn't have to cater specifically to a military theme yet the traditions can still be relevant:

  • Salute the service with your groom's cake.  Design a cake that has a special relevance to your branch of service, rank or MOS.
  • Incorporate the military into your accessories: wear a camouflage garter or dangle dog tags from your bouquet.
  • Savor the saber!  Cut the wedding cake with your NCO sword to the tune of cadence.  Your military attendees can sing along.

Wherefore art thou Wedding Venue?

Wedding venues come in all different shapes and sizes.  On our Facebook page, we have recently posted alternative ideas to the more common wedding venues.  Your choice of wedding venues can play a big role in the ambiance, mood and budget of your wedding.  It can also express your personality as a couple.

For example, a very artistic couple may enjoy their wedding at an art gallery.  Your decor cost may be minimized, and your venue would definitely serve as self-expression.

A dog-loving couple may want a dog-friendly event!  A local dog park may be willing to rent out their space for a donation.  Usually this donation is less than you would pay for more common venues, but you are responsible for bringing all other aspects (chairs, decor, catering, etc) to the event.

Many couples share a particular hobby.  Your wedding is a great time to share this hobby with friends and family.  A nautical couple's wedding may be on a boat, and a couple with a love for books may choose a historical library for their festivities.  Anything is possible!

Consider where you met your partner - a sporting event, for example.  You may wish to incorporate details of your meeting into your special day - host the event at a stadium.

We found this great article that lists "Five Things You Need to Consider When Choosing a Venue."  With this information, you have the tools to consider any location for your event!

Real Wedding: David & Tiffany

One of the best weddings of last year was Tiffany & David's. They were a referral from a really good friend of mine that called to inform me that her co-worker was stressed and needed assistance in pulling off her wedding that was literally a month to the date when she hired me to pull together such an important event. My goal was immediately to find out what vision was for the event. Not only was this an afternoon wedding, it was going to be held on a Monday...in December...a WEEK before Christmas! Eeeek! But it was no problem for Oh So Chic! Immediately we dived in head on and started to assemble an all star cast of vendors to pull it off. It was a fabulous event and just what this couple ordered. I would plan a wedding just like this daily if I could. Check out the pics from this swanky event that was featured on The Brides Cafe!

David was such a handsome groom...

...and his beautiful bride Tiffany was a knockout!

Such fun attire for the wedding party!

Tiffany's bouquet was AMAZING! The talented Amanda from BotanicAllure truly executed the vision that was discussed during the design consultation and blew us away with this lush beauty.

Simple ceremony decor accented the already exquisite Crystal Ballroom beautifully.

Mr & Mrs!!!

There were a mixture of full size, belly bar, and cocktail tables that were adorned with approximately four different centerpiece types. The look was romantic, eclectic, and lush.

The gentlemen were treated to cigars as favors!

Hankies for the women and mini mason candy jars for the kiddos!

This is by far my most favorite cake table to date. I'm so in love!

We are so grateful to work with wonderful couples such as David & Tiffany. We wish them life long love and happiness. A very special thank you to Janie at The Bride's Cafe for featuring this wedding and a huge thanks to all of the vendors that made everything come together so seamlessly.
